Willie Lundstrom Dies Suddenly at Kennedy
Funeral services were held from the Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Vikstrom officiating for Willie Lundstrom, who passed away very suddenly Friday night, October 31st.
Mr. Lundstrom had gone to bed about 9:30 o'clock apparently in his usual good health, but mentioning that he was very tired. Shortly after retiring he sat up and complained that his hand felt numb and when his arm, too, became affected, his wife called Mrs. Vikstrom who is a nurse, and Dr. Berlin from Hallock. However, there was nothing to be done for him and he passed away within an hour just as the doctor entered the house.
John Willie Lundstrom was born in Torsen, Sweden, August 3, 1885 and came to America with his parents at the age of 3 in 1888. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Lundstrom settled on a farm near Strandquist and here Willie grew to manhood. He had been baptised into the Lutheran faith in Sweden and was confirmed at Strandquist and during the later years had been a member of the Maria congregation.
For a number of years, Mr. Lundstrom made his home at Strathcona but moved to Kennedy later and was married there on May 16, *1935 [marriage record says *1936] to Mrs. Hilma Gooslaw, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Erick Nordin of Karlstad. They have made their home in Kennedy continuously ever since Mr. Lundstrom, who was 67 years, 2 months and 28 days of age, had been employed as a blacksmith by Frank Kiene for the past twenty years. He had enjoyed good health throughout his life and never complained of being ill.
Surviving are his wife, Hilma, two daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. George DeMaine (Effie) of Bathgate N. Dak., and Mrs. Herbert DeMaine (Elsie) of Lakota, N. Dak.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Hans Koland of Karlstad and Mrs. Edgar Pearson of Milwaukee; one step-son, Wallace Olson of St. Paul; two brothers, Clarence and Oscar Lundstrom of Strandquist. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, one *son [death record says child was daughter] who died in infancy, five brothers and three sisters.
