OBITUARY Mikael Ingemar Hoglund passed away suddenly Thursday, July 12, at the age of 67 years 5 months and 2 days. Mikael Hoglund was bom on February 10, 1884, at Tasjo, Vesternorlans lan, Sweden. He emigrated to Stephen, Minnesota, as a smalt boy, with his parents, Andreatha and August Hoglund, and came to this community in 1893 where he, since remained and made his home. He spent a few years on a homestead about three miles north of Dubuc. He was confirmed in the New Stockholm Lutheran Church on June 12, 1898. In 1910 he married Lorenthine Marie Bjarko. This union was blessed by two daughters and one son. After homesteading, he worked as a well-digger and a farmer. In 1918 he was elected to the Swea school board and served as trustee for 33 years.

Upon his retirement in January, 1951, he was elected honorary trustee. He was a kind and loving husband and father. “ He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, George. Left to mourn are his wife, a son Walter at home, two daughters, Edna and Mrs. Oscar Berg of Stockholm, two grandchildren Melvin and Shirley, a sister, Mrs. E. P. Erickson of Prince Albert, Sask., and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services held Tuesday, July 17, at the New Stockholm Swedish Luthera Church with Rev. W. Petersen of Stockholm and Rev. V. Lundquist of Leonardville, officiating.A solo, in Swedish, “Till det harliga land ofvan Skyn,” (In The Sweet By and By) was sung by Mrs. V. Lundquist. Rev. Petersen also sang a solo, in Swedish, “Klippa Du Som brast for Mig,” (Rock of Ages) Pallbearers were his four cousins, Mike, Adolph, Ludvig and Carl Oslund of Esterhazy, Albert Bjarko of Scobey, Mon., and Arnold Danielson of Stockholm. His cousins, Zack Oslund of Regina and Erick Hammarstrom of Broadview, were flower bearers.
